AUTOCHOPPER is a sample chopping plugin available in VST & AU format for Mac or Windows that allows you to turn nearly any sample into an interesting rhythmic sequence in just a few clicks.
Drag in a sample, use its automated transient detection or manually place slice markers, and trigger with programmed MIDI notes or AUTOCHOPPER's unique internal arpeggiator.
In a couple clicks you can have an interesting, glitchy sequence that sounds completely different from the source material.
It also features an internal effects section that allows you to create a completely different effects chain for each individual slice. You can generate effects across all slices automatically, program them yourself by hand, or do a mix of both to create interesting sequences.
Unlike most arpeggiators, AUTOCHOPPER features a Slice Length trigger mode.
Instead of triggering slices by a fixed subdivsion or free running Hz rate, it will play back based on each individual slice's length. Longer slices take longer to play and shorter slices move on more quickly.
It optionally lets you quantize slice length playback to the nearest subdivision. You can also scale this up and down to make slices trigger more or less frequently overall. Like the more typical Sync mode, you can additionally apply Swing to the quantized playback.
AUTOCHOPPER can also trigger slices in time with your DAW to a programmed subdivsion (you can also modulate the timing with LFOs and Envelopes) like 8th notes, 16th notes, etc as well as to a free running rate in Hz.
AUTOCHOPPER has 2 mappable LFOs and 2 loopable Envelopes that can function as extra "hands" that can turn knobs for you. You can map them to most of the Instrument UI or each other. This is very useful for generating variation over time so playback doesn't sound too monotonous.
The LFOs feature several waveforms and the ability to blend these waveforms with a randomly stepped Sample and Hold waveform.
Envelopes can be looped and set to free run or re-trigger with arpeggiator output.
- Drag to MIDI. Like what the arpeggiator did and want to replicate it exactly? The last 32 bars of playback are stored in a buffer and can be dragged to the DAW timeline as a MIDI clip. Then, simply disable the arpeggiator and trigger the AUTOCHOPPER with this MIDI.
- Automatic snap to zero crossing. With adjustable crossfade to reduce clicks on playback.
- Amp ADSR and Filter Section with ADSR. Shape each Slice with a filter and Amp Envelope
- Lock Effects on Slices with copy and paste. If you want to apply effects randomly across all slices without affecting certain slices you like, they can be locked. You can additionally copy and paste settings between slices.
- Rich Visual Feedback. The UI is designed to show you exactly what is happening when you work with the modulators.
